'Bates Motel' season 3 episode 5 spoilers: Norma assumes a position of power

The mysterious death of Annika (Tracy Spiridakos) has spawned deeper secrets. The former tenant of Bates Motel handed Norma (Vera Farmiga) a flash drive in episode 3, but until now, the motel's owner and her son Norman (Freddie Highmore) are still unable to open it and retrieve its contents.

Before Annika died, she instructed Norma to do something with the flash drive since it is important for her and her son. This is why the motel owner decided to hide the data storage device when the police came to investigate Annika's death. But when White Pine Bay Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell) had a chance to talk to Arcanum Club president Bob Paris (Kevin Rahm), he realized that the deceased was hiding something before she died.

What could the flash drive possibly contain?

IB Times posted several theories about the possible content of the flash drive, including details about the planned new highway that threatens the existence of the motel, important information about the drug deals in White Pine Bay, Bob Paris' long-kept secret, or proof that Norman killed Blaire Watson (Keehan Connor Tracy). But all of these continue to be mere speculations since nobody has so far managed to open the secured contents of the flash drive.

Meanwhile, the official synopsis for the upcoming "Bates Motel" season 5 titled "The Deal" reads: "Norma turns to Romero for guidance when she finds herself in an unexpected position of power."

What could possibly be Norma's new position in town? Can Romero help her open the flash drive this time?

On the other hand, Norman's relationship with his best friend-turned-girlfriend Emma (Olivia Cooke) becomes more complicated when he allows his mother to join them during their planned picnic. Will the two manage to have a normal relationship together?

"Bates Motel" season 3 episode 5 is slated to air on April 6 on A&E.
