The final episode of "Bates Motel" season 3 is right around the corner, but it does not mean that all the mystery and drama in White Pine Bay will slow down anytime soon.

During the penultimate episode of the season, Norma (Vera Farmiga) and Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell) had an intense brawl which almost led to an intimate encounter. The actors were recently interviewed by TVLine, and they both discussed the implication of their extremely physical fight.

According to Farmiga, "These characters are like positively ignited ions. They repel and they attract. And you need that one-upmanship in order to create this incredibly passionate dynamic."

It was also noted that a lot of emotions immediately came out during their fight. While Norma repeatedly claimed how she hates the sheriff, the viewers could also see how much she longed to be with him.

"Norma needed a punching bag, so I was like, 'Bring it' And you did. That moment needed to happen. Norma needed a release," Carbonell said.

The two characters almost kissed in that episode, which viewers had long been waiting for since the first season of the show. However, series showrunne Kerry Ehrin said that the time was not right for them to show how they feel for each other, and they both have big trust issues especially about Norma's son Norman (Freddie Highmore).

In the upcoming season 3 finale, Norma will finally reach her breaking point when it comes to her troubled youngest son.

The official synopsis for the episode titled "Unconscious" reads:

Norma is going to hit a breaking point with Norman's issues. Emma will have a surprising reaction to seemingly positive news. Romero is going to seal his fate in the town by finally choosing sides; and Caleb will make a decision that will uproot his new life."

"Bates Motel" season 3 episode 10 is slated to air on Monday, May 11, on A&E.
