'Bates Motel' season 5 spoilers: Marion Crane actress not yet confirmed

"Bates Motel" season 5 is set to bring in Marion Crane to recreate the iconic shower scene in "Psycho."Paramount Pictures

Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 masterpiece "Psycho" remains to be one of the most acclaimed horror thriller films to ever grace the big screen. This holds true today as Janet Leigh's iconic character in the movie is getting some more love in "Bates Motel" season 5.

The character Marion Crane will be given life in the upcoming season of "Bates Motel." It is not known yet who will play the role, but there are already a lot of discussions going on as to who will be the best actress to do it.

According to Zap2it, "The Evil Dead" star Jane Levy will be amazing in the role and should nail that iconic shriek in the shower scene, which is definitely the most memorable and most "GIF-ed" moment from the movie.

The publication also suggests "Bates Motel" season 5 to go with Sara Paxton, who has her horror chops down, and Lizzy Caplan, who should resemble Marion Crane without much effort.

"American Money" star Katharine Isabelle will be a great fit too, as she has already proved she can slay portrayals the likes of Marion Crane.

There's also "Bates Motel" star Vera Farmiga's younger sister Taissa Farmiga, whose performances in "American Horror Story" will do the talking.

An added bonus comes with the two being siblings, a connection that can be brought into play in "Bates Motel" season 5. After all, Nathan (Freddie Highmore) and his obsession with his mother, the now-dead Norma (Vera Farmiga), will be the front and center of the new season.

"The obsessive love of Norma is what the show is going to be based on. It's the heart of what drives it. That is going to be hugely important in season 5," executive producer Kerry Ehrin told TV Line.

The older Farmiga will get a "modified" role as Norma since she will now exist in Nathan's brain. The decision to kill the character was done so that, as EP Carlton Cuse explained, they can "do our version of the Psycho lore."

"We will be colliding with certain events in the narrative of the film, but it would be boring to just recreate Psycho," he elaborated.

"Bates Motel" season 5 will premiere next year.
