"Batman: Arkham Knight" is one of this year's most anticipated games, but fans of the series will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the upcoming title. Game developer Rocksteady Studios announced via the game's official Twitter page that the release date has been moved back three weeks, from June 2 to June 23. 

Director Sefton Hill stated on the Twitter post, "We're a developer that hates to make any compromises, so we are sorry to say this means it's going to be just a little bit longer until you can play the epic conclusion to the Arkham trilogy." 

This is not be the first time that the game release was pushed back. It was originally scheduled to be released in October last year but it was then delayed to 2015. Guy Perkins, marketing game manager for Rocksteady, stated that the team would not release a title they were not 100 percent satisfied with, and that they needed more time to improve on the project. It may be that this same reason applies to the three-week hold up. 

The title was also recently given a Mature rating by the ESRB. It will be the first time an "Arkham" title would receive this instead of the Teen ratings that the previous titles had. When asked, the ESRB explained that certain torture scenes and the ability to shoot hostages and unarmed characters guaranteed the M-rating. Whether or not the rating affected the release date has not been clarified by either Rocksteady or game publisher Warner Bros. 

In order to compensate for the delay, Rocksteady released an 8-minute game play video for the fans. 

"Batman: Arkham Knight" follows the events of "Batman: Arkham City," with the Joker dead and Scarecrow returning to unite all of the villains to finally put an end to the Caped Crusader. 

"Batman: Arkham Knight" will be available on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Windows, OS X, and Linux computers.
