Fans expecting "Batman: Return to Arkham" were disappointed to learn that the project will be delayed indefinitely. No new release date was mentioned in an announcement.

A Warner Bros. staff member posted the not-so-good news on the game's official forum last Monday. It said, "After reviewing the progress of the project, the team at WB Games has decided to delay the release of 'Batman: Return to Arkham' to give the team at Virtuos Games additional time to deliver a polished Batman Arkham game experience.

The announcement added, "We do not have a release date yet and will be sure to communicate that once we are sure the game will be ready. We know this is disappointing news, but we feel the extra time will allow the team to create the best gaming experience for our fans."

"Batman: Return to Arkham" was announced last month and will be available for US$49.99. It is not a new game but a remastered edition of "Batman: Arkham Asylum" and "Batman: Arkham City."

Many game fans were disappointed with the news, as expected, but there were also those who saw the better things than getting upset. Several followers do agree that they will get a better product when it gets released.

However, Engadget mentioned that several fans also saw the cancellation as a ploy for the collection to be released alongside "Batman Arkham VR," which was announced during the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016. The VR game will let players wear the Batsuit for the first time, which was a big surprise for the fans.

"Batman: Arkham Asylum" was originally released back in 2009 and "Batman: Arkham City" in 2011. The two games are the first two games in the "Batman:Arkham" main series and were developed by Rocksteady Studios.

For the meantime, it is a waiting game for the fans.
