Warner Bros. Animation has released a new trailer for the upcoming "Batman: The Killing Joke" animated movie. Alongside the trailer, a report from Cinema Blend confirms that it will launch in theaters for one night only on July 25.

The theatrical launch will be a one-time event and only in select theaters. Following its theatrical release the movie will be available for digital purchase on July 26. A physical copy on Blu-Ray and DVD will then be launched and be available in retail stores and online shops by Aug. 2. 

While the trailer is shorter than previous teasers, it notably comes with sound clips and musical cues that the previous teasers did not have, showcasing that the film is already complete. 

Some of the clips were previously showcased, such as the Joker torturing Commissioner Gordon and Batman heading to Arkham Asylum to interrogate the Joker. There are also clips of Batgirl, revealing she will have a more significant role compared to what she had in the Alan Moore and Brian Bollard graphic novel original. 

One of the newer clips showcases Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl sitting face-to-face with the Joker in the iconic scene where he is about to shoot and paralyze her. 

More importantly, the clip focuses on the overall tone and theme of the film in which the Joker is trying to prove to the Batman that it only takes one bad day for even the best and morally upright person to go insane and become just like the Joker.

Fans of the "Batman: The Animated Series" will recall that this is what happened to Harley Quinn and is how she transformed from an Arkham Asylum psychiatrist into one of the Joker's most loyal allies. Christopher Nolan's 2008 film "The Dark Knight" also focused on this when Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) transformed into Two-Face.
