'Batman v Superman' spoilers: Movie rumored to introduce The Red Hood

Six months ago Jena Malone was rumored to play Carrie Kelly, the female Robin seen in "The Dark Knight Returns" graphic novel that the new "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie is based on. Those rumors were shot down almost immediately, as cited by Screen Rant, but a new post from Latino Review's Umbertgo Gonzales aka El Mayimbe hint that one of Batman's sidekick will be alluded to in the movie.

According to his post via Instagram, Jason Todd's uniform as Robin will be seen encased inside the Batcave. He also reports that the Joker, played by Jared Leto, and Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie, will be estranged from each other in "Suicide Squad" because the latter feels guilty over Todd's death.

El Mayimbe then drops the bomb by stating that the Red Hood is now a priority for DC.

In the aforementioned graphic novel, Jason Todd becomes the second Robin after Richard Grayson leaves Batman and becomes Nightwing, the hero of Bludhaven City. The Joker kills Jason Todd but several years later Todd returns as the villain The Red Hood, hungry for revenge against both the Joker and Batman.

Scale back to Oct. 2014 and producer Charles Rovan mentioned in an interview with The Hollywood Masters that the Batman seen in "Batman v Superman" would be older and rougher than previous incarnations. This would give room for the events of Jason Todd's death and return to occur in the DC Cinematic Universe.

The dynamics of an older Batman, the Joker, and Jason Todd as the Red Hood has been seen in the animated film "Batman: Under the Red Hood," released in 2010.

As reported by Screen Rant, all of this is still speculation based on a single post by Latino Review. More details will emerge as "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Suicide Squad" arrive on March 25, 2016 and Aug. 5, 2016 respectively.
