"Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" is a movie that has been a long time coming. Announced two years ago, it will finally hit the silver screens on March 25, 2016. What is known so far about this highly anticipated movie?

First, it will set up the story of the Justice League. The movie will also set the new DC Comics cinematic universe, making it an anchor for the development of the characters of the Justice League and their background stories.

Also, the film is rumored to have been inspired by The "Dark Knight Returns" written by Klaus Janson, Frank Miller, and Lynn Varley. However, writer David Goyer dismissed the idea that the movie is an adaptation of the classic story.

Although "Dawn of Justice" will represent bigger things than its own storyline, the synopsis of the film provides an interesting glimpse of how the movie will play out. It is now known that Batman will be fighting Superman because of his fear of the rising god-like hero from Metropolis. Left unchecked, Superman might turn out to be a villain after all. But while Superman and Batman battle it out with each other, a new threat arises in the person of Lex Luthor.

As dark as the story might seem to be, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will surely see both superheroes finding a way to settle their differences in the end. The future of the Justice League depends on it.

The powerhouse cast includes Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Jess Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, and many more. Zack Snyder directs the film, while Goyer and Chris Terrio of "Argo" handles the screenplay.
