Has the battle between Batman and Superman already begun even before "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" hits the cinemas in 2016?

A recent rumor posted on Heroic Hollywood claims that Warner Bros. wants to give Ben Affleck's Caped Crusader more screen time than Henry Cavill's Man of Steel. According to the rumor, the surge in Batman-related releases — including the new "Batman: Arkham Knight" video game, the upcoming Batman LEGO movie, as well as the reference from the soon-to-be released "Suicide Squad" film — show that the character is DC Universe's current star.

The rumor also claims that Affleck's recent success in "Argo" and "Gone Girl" has encouraged Warner to ask for more appearance of the actor and the character, which could also set the stage for the alleged standalone Batman movie that Affleck himself will reportedly direct.

But Warner remains mum about the rumor. Film director Zack Snyder recently told Yahoo that the film will garner more rumors and speculations as the release date draws nearer.

"There are so many, it's insanity. It's funny because every now and then someone will touch on something that's kind of true, but the next thing they say makes me realize that they took a wild guess," Snyder stated. "They'll say something and I'll say 'Oh snap, they must have seen the script.' And then they'll say, 'And this happens!' And then I'll go, 'They have no idea what they're talking about.'"

The director also shut down previous speculations that his son Eli will appear in the movie as the young Robin. According to the filmmaker, there is no truth to that rumor. But he finds it funny how people came up with images showing his son dressed as Batman's trusted sidekick.

In another news, actor Jesse Eisenberg recently described the upcoming DC film during his interview with Today, saying that "Batman v Superman" is not a cartoonish-type of superhero film.

"It's this very serious and well acted, well written, well directed movie. It's really phenomenal," the actor, who portrays the role of Lex Luthor in the movie, stated.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will be released worldwide starting March 25, 2016.
