"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is one of the most highly anticipated films of 2016 but even this early, there are already a lot of critics dismissing many elements of the movie, including the casting of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. In an interview with Interview Magazine, the actress finally got to respond to the criticisms thrown at her. 

"No matter what you do, you can never please them all. People will always have something to say because that's the way people are. And it's okay. But for me, it's my job. It's my career. It's my art," she explained.

Gadot also stated that this is an opportunity to inspire, "not because of me but because of who Wonder Woman is and what she stands for." 

Wonder Woman has always been seen as a symbol of strength for women but Gadot stated that this is a role she wants to take and use to inspire everone, not just women. She also attributed a lot of the work to the crew, her co-workers, and scriptwriters because making a film is not a one-man job after all.

When asked about casting agents and the questions they throw at her, Gadot stated that wants more than just playing the girl that gets heartbroken and later has to be saved by a guy. She does not want to play the role of a damsel in distress, and playing Wonder Woman allows her to show the stronger side of women.

Gadot has already proven that she is a very strong person, in front and behind the camera. She won the Miss Israel beauty pageant competition in 2004 at the age of 19 and later served two years under the Israeli Defense Forces. Other than Wonder Woman, she is known for taking on the role of Gisele Yashar, another strong character in the "Fast & Furious" franchise. 

Wonder Woman plays a supporting role in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" which opens on March 25, 2016 and will star in her solo film set to release in 2017.
