'Batman vs Superman' plot spoilers: Part of Lex Luthor's diabolical plan against Superman revealed

Jesse Eisenberg as Lex LuthorWarner Bros. Pictures

Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) may not have super powers but he will have some means of opposing Superman (Henry Cavill). The trailer for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" reveals he may have Kryptonite, and according to a report from Heroic Hollywood, he'll have another evil plan to bring the Man of Steel down.

[Spoiler Warning] The report cites that Lex Luthor will kidnap none other than Martha Kent (Diane Lane), Superman's foster mother on Earth.

Fans would remember that in "Man of Steel," General Zod (Michael Shannon) threatened Martha, causing Superman to start a fight with Kryptonian soldiers. This fight almost destroyed the main street of Smallville, including a gas station, a 7-11 and an iHop.

It is expected Superman will do much worse in the upcoming film, when he learns that Luthor kidnapped the elder Kent.

Superman kneeling to Lex Luthor in defeatWarner Bros. Pictures

According to a report from Cinema Blend, this may relate to a scene in the trailers where Superman is kneeling before Luthor. He is not holding Kryptonite in the scene and it appears more as a metaphorical defeat as Superman may not be able to harm Luthor as long as the latter holds Martha hostage.

However, given that Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) are also in the movie, it is still likely that one of them may be able to help rescue Martha while Superman is forced to do whatever Lex Luthor commands of him.

There are also speculations that the soldiers wearing a Superman logo in the trailer might belong to Luthor and are following Luthor's orders instead of Superman's. This would be the case if Superman is now following Luthor's commands. This may also explain why Batman is fighting these soldiers in the desert.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" opens in theaters on March 25, 2016.
