'Battlefield 1' bug fix news: Emergency update fixes performance issues

Last week, the highly anticipated Apocalypse update to the first-person shooter "Battlefield 1" dropped and, although it is supposed to deliver some great improvements and enhancements, it did quite the opposite with players citing a major bug.

However, players should now be able to calm themselves since the bug issue of the previous patch has now been fixed -- thanks to an emergency update from DICE.

The bugs in question primarily affect the game's performance after receiving rewards from completed matches, which caused repercussions for the game's system. The issue was immediately reported to DICE and publisher Electronic Arts -- with the two promising an emergency fix.

The emergency fix altered some aspects of the new Service Assignments, which reduced the demands on the rewards system -- the main cause of the performance dip.

The changes made to the Service Assignments will remove the player requirement of completing 5 Staying Focused Assignments needed for the Climbing the Ranks system. But in order to maintain game difficulty, the developers moved assignments that unlock afflictions under the Climb the Ranks category.

The update also assured players that their progress in Affliction Assignments will not be erased, more so for those that you have already unlocked.

The Apocalypse DLC is the fourth and last installment in the expansion pack of "Battlefield 1," and it brought players five new maps that they can now play on after acquiring the patch. Alongside this, the patch also dropped a handful of new weapons inspired from the Second World War.

"Battlefield 1" first debuted in 2016 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms. It is the 15th installment in the "Battlefield' franchise, which is set in the First World War. It received positive reviews from critics and gamers worldwide largely for its multiplayer modes and incredible visual design.
