'Battlefield 1' release date set for Oct. 21; Early Enlister Deluxe Edition to have early launch

Developer DICE and publisher EA have officially revealed "Battlefield 1," a brand new FPS game set during the conflict of World War 1, a far cry from the shooters of today that focus on modern or futuristic settings. Along with the official announcement is the reveal trailer and the confirmation of an October release.

According to Den of Geek, the game is officially launching on Oct. 21 this year for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC but there is a means of getting the game early. EA is releasing a limited Early Enlisters Deluxe Edition and gamers who pre-order this now can begin playing the game starting Oct. 18.

This limited edition will cost $79.99. It will also come with extra emblems, weapons and vehicles as wel as the Red Baron Pack, Lawrence of Arabia Pack and new designs for three major vehicles. These new appearances are the Dazzle Camouflage Dreadnought, Frontline Camouflage Train and the Night Raid Airship.

It is also important to note that the PC version will not be available through most digital stores such as Steam. Instead, it will only be available through EA's own digital platform known as Origin. EA has been following this system in recent years, with most of their games such as "Mass Effect" available solely on Origin.

There is also a Collector's Edition. This edition will cost $219.99 and will come with the base game, a 14-inch collector's statue, an exclusive steel book, cloth poster, a deck of World War 1-themed playing cards, a messenger pigeon tube with DLC content, a patch and premium packaging.

Pre-ordering the Collector's Edition will grant access to the early Oct. 18 launch and Harlem Hellfighter Pack as well. EA Access players will also gain limited playthrough on Oct. 18. Player's who cannot acquire any of the aforementioned packages can still get to play the game early during the game's presentation at this year's E3.
