Two years after the launch of "Battlefield 4," game developer DICE continues to update their first shooter title.

According to the latest notes on the official "Battlefield" blog, the new update, dubbed the spring patch, will be released in late May for all platforms. Generally, DICE will be bringing stability improvements and game performance fixes for players of "Battlefield 4."

In addition, the spring patch will be bringing five new weapons in every "Battlefield 4" player's already formidable arsenal. Although DICE has not provided any specific details on each weapon, the notes illustrate the general characteristics of new weaponry that will be made available for gamers this coming spring.

Topping the list is a new fan favorite assault rifle, picked by the "Battlefield 4" team due to fan demand and burst gameplay. There will also be a new Carbine in bullpup configuration with built-in vertical grip; a new sidearm for close quarters, with long range features due to a "sniper" configuration with magnum rounds; a new silenced PDW; and a new magazine-fed LMG with unique balance.

DICE will also be bringing back an old "Battlefield 3" staple – the Gun Master game mode. This mode is a team deathmatch with a twist, where players will have to use automatically spawned weapons, and armaments will be swapped every two consecutive kills.

Under the Gun Master game mode, there will be five different game sets that players can choose from, based on the types of weapons players will use. There are the Standard and Classic modes, with a mixture of rifles, pistols, machine guns, and the M9 bayonet; Pisto, where players only have pistols as their weapon of choice; DLC mode, where only DLC weapons including the Phantom bow are allowed; and finally, the Troll mode, where DICE configured a silly weapons list that starts with ballistic shields as weapons.
