"Battlefield 4," the predecessor of the highly anticipated "Battlefield 5"EA DICE

"Battlefield 5" is expected to be released during the third or fourth quarter of this year. This means that the much-awaited shooter could hit the shelves as early as July. EA DICE is already working on the title.

Back in December, the game studio confirmed that with "Star Wars Battlefront" out of the way, its focus can finally fully shift to the new "Battlefield" iteration. It is believed that EA DICE will reveal more details about the game during the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016.

The event is set to take place in June. "Battlefield 5" should then be released in the months that follow. The latest timeframe it could arrive is around December. Interestingly, German retailer World of Games leaked a listing of the game, revealing juicy details.

The retailer listed an Oct. 26 release date for "Battlefield 5." While there's no way of knowing if this is accurate, it is safe to assume that this date is EA DICE's target date for the launch of the new "Battlefield" title.

In addition, the leaked listing means that the game is close to a launch, seeing that retailers are already preparing for it. That being said, EA DICE might make the announcement soon to make the release official.

As far as gameplay is concerned, fans who love "Battlefield" for its military theme would love to know that "Battlefield 5" is rumored to stay true to the premise. "Battlefield Hardline" was a different approach in the franchise, with cops and robbers at the heart of it.

Thanks to the leaked listing, it was revealed that "Battlefield 5" is set in the First World War. This easily brings to mind gameplay that involves massive tanks, high-end killer weaponry and big machine guns.

In the event this turns out to be the setting for "Battlefield 5," it would certainly be a huge departure from "Battlefield Hardline" and one that players ought to enjoy.
