Early rumors suggest that "Battlefield 5" will have a World War I setting and it may be released in October of this year. It is also said that it will be available for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.

A Twitter user named Ray (@Zinogray) posted online the information he had gathered from WOG's website, a Swiss online retailer. It says, "Mehrspieler Taktik Shooter im 1. Weltkrieg," which translates to "Multiplayer tactical shooter in WW1." It also says that the date of release is Oct. 26. However, the details have now been changed and simply read simply "multiplayer tactical shooter."

"Battlefield" fans were hyped up with the information regarding their beloved game, and many favor going back to historical times, which is a big contrast to the themes of many of the titles that are being offered in the market nowadays. As one user posted on the Neogaf message board, "WW1 setting aw yeah."

The gaming community is well aware that game publisher Electronic Arts and game developer DICE are currently busy with their next "Battlefield" game, although many are not expecting it to be set in the WW I era. In the past, it was mostly during WW II.

GameRant reported that EA will be releasing a "Battlefield" game this year, which was announced during EA's investor meeting last October. Blake Jorgensen, Cheif Financial Officer of EA, said, "Our intention over the next couple of years is to have a first-person shooter as one of the core titles. This year, obviously, it's Star Wars Battlefront. Next year, it's another Battlefield title."

EA also said that their players prefer longer time between game releases, which gives players more time to enjoy their games. With this game plan, players can "explore the depth and innovation in [EA's] shooter titles, " as Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, stated back in October 2014.

EA and DICE have not said anything yet about the recent finds concerning "Battlefield 5."
