Harebrained Schemes, the developer of the game "Battletech," announced that the upcoming turn-based strategy science-fiction (sci-fi) simulation game from the board game of the same name created by Jordan Weisman is scheduled to release in April this year. It is currently available for preorder on Steam for $39.99 for the regular edition and $49.99 for the digital deluxe edition.

Harebrained Schemes announced on Feb. 28 that "Battletech" is set to release in April for Microsoft Windows and Mac.

According to the Steam page of the game, "Battletech" is set in 3025 in a galaxy trapped in a cycle of neverending war, fought by noble houses with gigantic, mechanized combat vehicles named BattleMechs. Players will be in command of their own BattleMechs as well as MechWarriors that pilot them as the players join the ruthless interstellar civil war. Players will be tasked to upgrade their starfaring operations base, compromise avaricious contracts with feudal lords, mend and maintain their BattleMechs and perform destructive combat tactics to defeat opponents on the battlefield.

"Battletech" has five key features — command of BattleMech squad in a turn-based combat, management of a mercenary company, participation in the interstellar civil war, customization of BattleMechs and player versus player (PvP) multiplayer as well as skirmish mode.

As mentioned earlier, players will be in command of over 30 BattleMechs which they have to deploy alongside utilizing terrain, positioning, weapon selection and special abilities to defeat enemies. Players will also have to manage their mercenary company by recruiting, customizing and developing MechWarriors, improving and customizing their dropship, traveling in space, taking missions and managing their reputation. Furthermore, players will have to join the interstellar civil war, immersing themselves in the story of a violently overthrown ruler and waging a war to bring her back to her throne.

BattleMechs can also be customized in accordance with the players' reference with the help of their MechLab which is where restoration and repair of the units happen as well. In addition, the game will also feature a multiplayer mode for players to enjoy the game with their friends as well as a skirmish mode where they can test their strategies against the artificial intelligence (AI).

"BattleMech" is available for preorder on Steam for $39.99 for the regular edition and $49.99 for the digital deluxe edition. The regular edition includes the Shadowhawk Pack which has an alternate BattleMech skin plus an exclusive wallpaper. The digital deluxe edition, on the other hand, includes a digital artbook, soundtrack, forum avatar and wallpapers.
