The "Bayonetta" video game series is getting a much anticipated third installment and it will be exclusively available for the Nintendo Switch console in February 2018.

"Bayonetta 3" was announced during the recently concluded The Game Awards via its first official teaser trailer. This will be the first time that the hack-and-slash action adventure franchise will make its way to the Nintendo console.

In the teaser, a purple ghost-like creature is seen attacking Bayonetta in rapid succession. The protagonist is struggling to keep up with the very fast attacks. The eponymous character then engages the creature with a series of gunshots.

However, in the middle of the fighting, Bayonetta suddenly disappears, with her body dissolving into the thin air. Her guns are seen to have been left behind.

While the teaser provides no details about the story or features of the upcoming game, many fans are still ecstatic with the reveal of the title. With the acclaim that its previous two titles have garnered, it's easy to see why "Bayonetta 3" could be one the most anticipated games of 2018.

Aside from "Bayonetta 3," it was also revealed that the previous two titles in the "Bayonetta" series will be ported to the Nintendo Switch. "Bayonetta" and "Bayonetta 2" will be bundled along with the release of the upcoming third installment.

The release of "Bayonetta 3" will also mark the first time that a title in the franchise will be released on a handheld gaming system. It will be interesting to know how developer PlatinumGames will utilize the Switch's unique control system to provide players with a new and fun experience with the upcoming title. The console's dynamic motion controls could also add a new dimension to the already excellent "Bayonetta" gameplay.

The game's Switch release also means that it will potentially get support for local wireless co-operative play, Amiibo support, and in-game video capture.
