‘Be Prepared’ for the Salvation Army World Jamboree 2006

The Salvation Army World Jamboree 2006 will launch this summer July 29th until August 5th, 2006, with its campsite located near the city of Almere, in the centre of the Netherlands. Various groups from the U.S.A, Canada, Britain, Norway, Finland, Sweden, France, Belgium, The Dominican Republic, Congo, Ghana, and of course the Netherlands, will participate in the event.

|PIC1|The Jamboree camp is for boys and girls from 11 years of age, teenagers and adults who are members of Salvation Army scouting groups, with the aim to allow people to have a “good and useful time.”

The chosen theme for this year’s world Jamboree is “Be Prepared,” which can be a motto for everyday life as a “Christian and a Scout,” according to the site’s website.

The Jamboree team further explains on its website: “‘Prepared’ to offer you an excellent camp; we hope that participants are ‘Prepared’ to strengthen and increase the bond of friendship and community between (Salvation Army) Scouts.”

“We pray that everyone will ‘Be Prepared’ to share the message of love and respect that Jesus Christ has given us.”

One of the Jamboree organisation’s goals is for all participants to share a responsibility to help enable children/teenagers from poorer countries to come to the Jamboree. With that purpose, the organisation introduces the JAM TOGETHER project.

From each camp fee paid, approximately 20 euros will be put towards the ‘JAM TOGETHER’ project, where countries needing financial support from this project can go to the ‘JAM TOGETHER’-link on the website to register. The policy is to enable 2 people from each FAT country to attend.
