It seems people are more intrigued in Belle trying to talk to animated candle holders and tea sets than Christian Grey's relationship with Anastasia Steele.

Entertainment Weekly noted that Disney's long-awaited remake of the 1991 classic "Beauty and the Beast" has smashed records for the most viewed trailer in the first 24 hours. The said trailer has garnered 127.6 million views already, which goes to show how much anticipation has been brewing over the film.

"Fifty Shades Darker" used to hold the record for the most views in the first 24 hours, amounting to 114 million views. The Christian Grey-Anastasia Steele romance stole the record from former title holder "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which had 112 million views.

The popularity and wildfire-like spread of the trailer were brought about not just by the cinematic clip alone, but also by how the actors promoted it on their own pages. Emma Watson, who plays the lead role of Belle, posted the trailer on her Facebook page, gaining around 27 million views. Director Bill Condon and actors Dan Stevens (who plays the Beast), Luke Evans (who plays Gaston), and Josh Gad (who plays Le Fou) hosted a Facebook Live session to answer questions from avid followers of the film.

"Beauty and the Beast" is a very popular story that has already been remade in other parts of the world, one of which is the 2014 Franco-German adaptation "La Belle et la BĂȘte." So the biggest question on everyone's minds is why there is so much interest in the 2017 film when it is simply another remake of a classic Disney cartoon.

The reason may precisely be because it endeavors to remain true to the 1991 animated classic. The 2014 version was very different to the story everyone grew to love, so much that it had a dark, foreboding feel to it. The 2017 adaptation is almost identical that Movie Pilot made a clip comparing the trailer and the animated scenes, proving it will be reliving the original movie.
