Ben Carson's son defends him, says his dad is an honest man with 'truth and pure intentions' on his side

Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson has come under fire when a woman from Florida demanded that he take a paternity test since she claims to be the father of their love child.

Carson refused to take the test, insisting that the only woman he ever slept with is his wife Candy. Now, his son Ben Carson Jr., who is a finance executive and founder of the company Interprise, is coming to his father's defence, according to The Christian Post.

Carson Jr. said he has no doubt that his father is an honest man with "truth and pure intentions" on his side. In an e-mail sent to Carson's supporters, his son wrote: "My dad, Dr. Ben Carson, isn't perfect, nor does he claim to be — except maybe on the pool table. But he has lived his life in an exemplary fashion. He taught my brothers and me the importance of being honest and making choices that we wouldn't come to regret."

"As a rule, sons tend to admire their fathers, but it's great to be able to say that my role model is my dad. This is what has made the past couple of weeks so tough to watch. We are not a political family but we know campaigns are tough, particularly the scrutiny that comes with them. But it's hard to prepare for people, particularly those in the media, lying so blatantly about him," he said.

Carson Jr. said the whole family backs Carson's candidacy "100 percent," and they are simply happy that they are a part of the ride. He also hopes that America will see their father the same way they see him.

"He is an honest guy and he's actually out for the good of the country and he is not bought and paid for by special interests," said Carson Jr.

Carson has two other sons—eldest son Murray who is a mechanical engineer and youngest son Rhoeyce who is a CPA.
