'Better Call Saul' season 3 release date: Bob Odenkirk discusses season 3 plot

 AMC

Actor Bob Odenkirk, who portrays Jimmy McGill aka Saul Goodman in "Better Call Saul," recently spoke with Variety, giving insight into what fans can expect going into the upcoming third season. AMC has yet to announce when season 3 will officially premiere but it is speculated to be released in early 2017, mirroring the season 2 premiere.

"I'd love to see some of Saul during the years of 'Breaking Bad,' but off-screen, out of his office, not in his Saul mode. I'm curious what that person is," Odenkirk stated when asked what he would want to see in season 3. It is important to note that while the actor wants these scenes there are no confirmation from the studios that they will indeed happen.

However, it is noted by fans that season 1 of the series opened with a scene taking place after the finale of "Breaking Bad" and the sequence Odenkirk described could reasonably take place in "Better Call Saul" season 3 as a form of continuation showcasing what else happened after Walter White's (Bryan Cranston) story had ended.

Odenkirk also explained in the interview that he focuses solely on acting, putting all his trust on the series creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. Odenkirk confirmed that he would be not be writing or directing an episode, allowing himself to pour all his effort on his acting responsibilities.

The actor also stated how "Better Call Saul" is radically different from "Breaking Bad," despite the former coming from the success of the latter. He stated that while there are similarities, they are different shows with a different focus and "Better Call Saul" continues to evolve from "Breaking Bad."

"Better Call Saul" season 3 is expected to premiere in mid- to late February given that season 1 premiered on Feb. 8 and season 2 premiered on Feb. 15. Fans speculate it may launch on Feb. 13, 2017 although this has yet to be confirmed by AMC.
