In an interview with GoldDerby, actor Jonathan Banks talked about his character Mike Ehrmantraut and the direction that the spin-off series "Better Call Saul" is taking in its second season. The actor shared his love for Mike, who he had been playing for a decade since it was first introduced in "Breaking Bad" where it originated. According to the actor, characters like Mike are like a love letter for him, and it is his responsibility to do justice to the role.

In a previous interview, Banks narrated that he actually came up with the idea of Mike's backstory, which series creator Vince Gilligan gladly approved. However, Banks mentioned that the Mike that was featured in "Breaking Bad" is still being developed in "Better Call Saul."

"The Saul Goodman we met on 'Breaking Bad' recommends murder as a business strategy. Do you think Jimmy McGill would do that? The Mike we knew on 'Breaking Bad' was ready to shoot someone in the head for money. Is that where Mike is now? I think the answer is — at least to my eye — is we have a ways to go," Banks shared with The Hollywood Reporter

Meanwhile, Bob Odenkirk, the actor who plays the titular role of Saul Goodman/ Jimmy McGill in the spin-off series, said that he vaguely has an idea about where his character is heading in "Better Call Saul" season 2.

"I don't know what's going to happen, but based on the very brief and very general conversations I've had with Vince and Peter, I think Jimmy's got some ups coming his way and some good times, which could be fun to watch," the actor stated in an interview.

"Better Call Saul" had an amazing series premiere in AMC, after Odenkirk earned a nomination from the 5th Critics Choice Television Awards for the Best Actor in a Drama Series category.

The series is expected to air its second season in February 2016.
