"Better Call Saul" is still a couple months away from airing its third season, but as early as now, fans already have an idea of what will possibly go down next season for the "Breaking Bad" prequel — a showdown between brothers and the return of a notorious villain.

The difference between the two is that the first one was heavily hinted at during the end of last season when Chuck (Michael McKean) basically conned his own brother. As Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) pleaded his case, the older McGill secretly taped his confession which included admitting to tampering documents and bribing the copy store clerk.

Unfortunately, it seems like Jimmy pouring his heart out to Chuck just so the latter would continue practicing law will backfire on him. Fans can only speculate how that recording will fit in the grander scheme of things moving forward for "Better Call Saul" but everyone is in unison that chances are that it will be utilized to the advantage of Chuck.

"I think it's safe to say that we are always looking for ways to deepen and intensify and complicate the current situation, dramatically speaking. So yes, you can expect to see that pay dividends. I don't know if people are gonna be happy with it, but you can expect to see that," series co-creator Vince Gilligan told IGN about the supposed Chuck vs. Jimmy showdown.

Stretching the speculation quite a bit, theories suggests that whatever Chuck does to antagonize Jimmy will eventually lead to the latter transforming into his Saul Goodman persona. So far, Odenkirk has already teased that by season 3, the innocence of his character will be slowly stripped away and what better plot driver is there than to have his own family betray him big time.

As for the appearance of the iconic "Breaking Bad" villain that is Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito), Gilligan as well as co-creator Peter Gould admitted to having underestimated the wit and vigilance of their fans who cracked the code for the season 3 surprise.

"I think our plan was to drop a little hint, at some point around the beginning of the third season, that there was a code in the titles, but people were so far ahead of us," Gilligan said. "I don't want to ruin anything for anyone, but speaking for myself, the fans earned this one. I'm not going to say what happens but the people figured this out on their own."

Meanwhile, Gould chimed in, saying, "All I can say is, as first fans of the show, we're feeling very rewarded. And people who watched Breaking Bad will have even more reasons to watch Better Call Saul this season."

No official return date for "Better Call Saul" yet but season 3 is expected to premiere sometime early next year on AMC.
