'Better Call Saul' season 3 spoilers: Gus Fring said to return

Giancarlo Esposito as Gustavo FringAMC

"Better Call Saul" season 2 had a unique Easter egg in that the first letters of each episode could be arranged to spell out "Fring's Back," hinting the return of the villain Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito). Actor Bob Odenkirk, as reported by Time, has now spoken up about it, teasing that Gus may indeed come back in season 3.

Speaking on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Odenkirk, who plays the titular Saul Goodman, even revealed which episode Gus might be making an appearance on the show. Of course, at this point actor Esposito has yet to make any comment about his possible return or if the showrunners have even approached him.

"I'm looking for him. He's coming back," Odenkirk stated. "They didn't think everyone would scrutinize the show that closely, and they did it, and the cat's out of the bag. So I imagine he'll be in the first moment. That's what I... Let's go. Let's get to it, right?"

It is important to note that "Better Call Saul" is a prequel of sorts to "Breaking Bad" and that Gus Fring's appearance will be different than how he was portrayed in "Breaking Bad." It is widely speculated that at this point Fring is just beginning to grow his criminal empire. In "Breaking Bad" Fring had already amassed a large network.

The series creators and showrunners have not yet confirmed that the character is indeed coming back but it would make sense. In "Breaking Bad" the two are already acquainted and it was Saul who introduced Fring to Walter White (Bryan Cranston).

"Better Call Saul" season 3 will likely showcase how Fring and Saul developed their business relations. Mike (Jonathan Banks) also shifted from working with Saul to working for Fring and season 3 may explore how this happened. Fans speculate Fring's business is still in its early stages and he may have garnered Mike's trust.

"Better Call Saul" season 3 premieres in early 2017.
