Bible film comp reaches fever pitch

Wallace and Gromit creator Nick Park and Poirot actor David Suchet are among the judges to choose the winner of Bible Society’s film competition.

Entrants to The Pitch have been whittled down to just 10 finalists who will make their last bid for the prize before the judges at Pinewood Studios this weekend.

Entrants were asked to create a three-minute pitch for a film based on a verse, character or story from the Bible.

The winner will be jetted off to Hollywood where they will show their pitch to producer Ralph Winter (X-Men, Fantastic Four).

The pitch will then be turned into a short film with the help of a team of industry professionals and advice from the judges, who also include Empire magazine editor Nev Pierce, BBC TV producer Anna Cox, and composer Martin Kizko.

Luke Walton, director of The Pitch and Bible Society’s Arts Officer, said, “The Bible is full of stories of real people and real relationships.

“All the finalists have discovered this in producing their pitch and the standard they’ve delivered is a great encouragement for young British film talent. We are expecting a nail-biting weekend ahead.”

The winner is due to be announced before the end of the weekend.
