Bible Society Working to Reach Out to Broad Public in Lebanon

The Bible Society is taking part in several projects in the Middle East in an attempt to reach out to the broad public and draw their attention to the Bible and Christianity.

One of the projects ran in Lebanon, in cooperation with other Christian agencies, is the Book for Life Christian Resource Centre. It aims to encourage young people to grow spiritually and socially through interaction with the Word of God. Also it provides counselling dealing with visitors' questions and strengthening their faith.

The centre is ideally located for the target audience of young people. Lebanon Chair, Amine Khoury commented: "We were extremely excited that this Centre is now open to the public, in such a strategic location, offering its services to our community."

Another way that Bible Society is using to impact the youngest population is 'Bible World'.

Bible World is an interactive multimedia scripture project created by the Bible Society in Lebanon. It is based on the Scottish Bible Society's exhibition Bible World, and it is a very interesting way of presenting the Word of God to children in an attractive way using the latest multimedia technology.

The exhibition that opens the Bible story in a fresh new method - through computer games - and other interactive tools are visited by regular groups from schools and Sunday schools.

The project is very successful as it has reached out to over 10,000 visitors recently.

"When our Bible World coordinator, Paula Ziade, told me that we were about to reach this landmark figure, we made plans to celebrate!" said Mr. Mike Bassous, Bible Society Acting General Secretary.
