'The Big Bang Theory' season 9 spoilers: The gang set to go on a trip to Mexico; 'Star Wars' episode confirmed

Season 9 of "The Big Bang Theory" will air Sept. 21 on CBS.CBS

"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 has a lot more going on than Amy and Sheldon's tear-jerking breakup and Leonard's shocking confession to Penny. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Steve Molaro revealed that the gang will go on awesome adventures, too.

"There will be a fun road trip to Mexico for the guys early on," Molaro revealed. "The road trip will be taking place in [the late theoretical physicist] Richard Feynman's van."

This van isn't a replica. He said that "it will actually be Richard Feynman's real-life van that we have access to — his actual van from the '80s with the equations that he had painted on the outside of it."

This should make season 9 extra fun for fans. But this is just the beginning. Molaro told TV Line about the group's journey to space. The series will bring Sheldon and his posse into the world of "Star Wars" in an episode that's all about "The Force Awakens," the latest installment in the space film series set to be shown on Dec. 18.

Fans of the series know that Sheldon, Leonard and Raj are fanatics of "Star Wars," and Molaro recognizes that, telling TV Line that "it would be weird for us not to mention" the upcoming movie directed by J.J. Abrams.

"Obviously, we're all excited about it, just as human beings — and the characters are as well," Molaro said, adding that they are already figuring out how to merge it with the group's lives. "I don't know exactly how it's going to play in, but it won't be ignored."

"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 will premiere Sept. 21 with an episode titled "The Matrimony Momentum," which should delve into the Sheldon-Amy breakup and Penny and Leonard's wedding.
