More familiar faces are returning to "Big Little Lies" season 2.

Actors Iain Armitage, James Tupper and Jeffrey Nordling are officially on board the HBO drama's second installment, according to reports. Armitage returns as Ziggy Chapman, Jane's (Shailene Woodley) son who will be at the second grade when the show picks up.

Tupper reprises his role as Nathan Carlson, who will deal with several problems in his marriage and with his eldest daughter Abby (Kathryn Newton). Nordling is also back to portray Gordon Klein, who risks losing everything as he copes with the consequences of a huge mistake.

After season 1 wrapped up, Armitage moved on to CBS' "The Big Bang Theory" prequel series titled "Young Sheldon." Tupper appeared on NBC's "The Brave" and will next be seen in the Paramount Network series "American Woman." Nordling, on the other hand, had roles in "I'm Dying Up Here," "The Gifted," and "Nashville."

As previously reported, almost all members of the show's creative team are expected to be back for season 2. The biggest change behind the scene will be the director. Season 1 director Jean-Marc Vallee will only return as an executive producer, and he will be replaced by Oscar-winner Andrea Arnold. Writer and showrunner David E. Kelley, who was one of the first people to be attached to the series, will also be back to write all seven episodes of season 2.

In January, Meryl Streep officially inked a deal to star in the Emmy-winning drama, joining fellow A-listers Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. The project is Streep's first TV series appearance in a long time. She has already won three Emmy's, though, including one that she received last year for outstanding narrator for the documentary "Five Came Back."

"Big Little Lies" season 2 is expected to premiere in 2019 on HBO.
