Billy Graham reminds Christians: Don't forget Jesus Christ after Christmas

It is all well and good for people to remember Jesus Christ during Christmas to celebrate His birth.

However, American evangelist Billy Graham believes it is very important to honour the Saviour not just once a year but every day throughout the year.

"Just as we celebrate our children's birthdays every year, I believe it's entirely appropriate for us to celebrate the birth of God's own son, Jesus Christ, every year. Why not join every year with the shepherds on that first Christmas, 'glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen' (Luke 2:20)?" he writes on his advice column for the Kansas City Star.

At the same time, Graham stresses that people should not just celebrate Jesus' birth at Christmastime and then forget about Him the rest of the year.

"After all, just because we celebrate our children's birthdays doesn't mean we forget them or ignore them the rest of the year!" he says. "They are an important part of our lives, and our relationship with them should continue to grow every day. To ignore them is unimaginable."

Sadly, Graham says this is what happens with people's relationship with Jesus. He hopes that people find out that Christmas is more than just presents and parties this year, and that their focus will always be on Jesus.

"Shouldn't he be part of your life every day? Of course he should. He loves you so much that He gave His life for your salvation. Have you responded to His love by giving your life to Him?" says Graham.

He prays that the wonder of the very first Christmas fills the hearts of Christians each and every day. To strengthen that feeling, Graham urges people to take time each day to draw strength from the Bible, to pray, and to have fellowship with other believers.
