Marvel is off to a great start with the superhero movie "Black Panther." Its first hurrah generated great reviews from critics, but also sparked a number of haters trying to tank the movie.

The movie premiered last Jan. 29 in Los Angeles and it was jam-packed with celebrities including the film's main star Chadwick Boseman. Critics and celebrities who attended the premiere shared their feedback about the movie, and most of the comments generated positivity.

Los Angeles Time correspondent Jen Yamato took it to Twitter to applaud the movie. "BLACK PANTHER is incredible, kinetic, purposeful. A superhero movie about why representation & identity matters, and how tragic it is when those things are denied to people. The 1^st MCU movie about something real," she tweeted.

Yamato also applauded the movie for highlighting women power. "In #BlackPanther it's not the Avengers, but women -- a warrior, a scientist, a spy, and a queen -- who assemble to fight for Wakanda," she wrote.

There are also comments about the movie mirroring the social stigma of racism present these days. Movie critic Kendra James tweeted, "MJB's (Michael B. Jordan) villain origin story in BLACK PANTHER is an origin story racism and broken promises. If felt prescient and familiar and too plausible." The movie, according to early reviews, successfully delivered and lived up to its hype.

However, apart from the positive reviews, a hostile group sparked an event to sabotage the film upon its upcoming release. A Facebook group named Down with Disney's Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys posted an event to invite people to give bad reviews for "Black Panther" on Rotten Tomatoes. The event was titled "Give Black Panther a Rotten Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes."

The event post was taken down, and Rotten Tomatoes quickly issued a statement to The Wrap. "We at Rotten Tomatoes are proud to have become a platform for passionate fans to debate and discuss entertainment and we take that responsibility seriously," Rotten Tomatoes said.
