'Black Panther' plot spoilers: Mysterious suit spotted in international trailer could be Killmonger's

Marvel has recently dropped a new international trailer for its next superhero film "Black Panther." The footage features some familiar scenes from the previous promos, but there is one particular standout that has Marvel fans talking.

The fresh footage debuts a never-before-seen suit. While T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and his sister Shuri (Letitia Wright) are talking in what appears to be a control room, three mannequins are seen holding different suits.

In front and center is a Black Panther suit that is quite different from the one Boseman's character wore when he debuted in "Captain America: Civil War." As recalled, his previous suit has silver spikes around the neck, while this one has black of those that blend in with the entire body. It also has less metallic highlights.

On its right is another black suit. The only things visible in this one are the arm and shoulder. While the rest is blocked by Shuri's frame, it is presumed to be T'Challa's "Civil War" uniform.

Finally, the third one, sitting on the left side of the frame, is cloaked in white material with golden spikes and gaps on the biceps. It remains to be determined what exactly it is for. The white covering could very well be a part of the mannequin, leaving the necklace the only wearable thing. However, there are already theories making rounds online.

The most popular theory is that the suit could be Erik Killmonger's (Michael B. Jordan). Redditor JimmySinner predicts that it may be an unfinished armor Shuri has been working on, which Jordan's character steals later.

In the official "Black Panther" trailer, the film's villain sports a suit that looks like a modified version of T'Challa's. The big difference is that Killmonger's outfit features a gold weave and necklace. This mannequin dons the same golden accessory.

However, if it is not Killmonger's Golden Jaguar suit, it could be the armor of one of the supporting characters from the Black Panther mythos. Comic Book speculates it may be for Hunter the White Wolf, T'Challa's adopted brother in the comics; or the uniform of Wakanda's secret police, Hatut Zeraze.

Whatever the case, it can only be confirmed when the film hits theaters next year. Directed by Ryan Coogler, "Black Panther" premieres on Feb. 16.
