BlackBerry is scheduled to release its latest BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 update to all its smartphone lines except the newly released BlackBerry Classic and BlackBerry Passport, which are already equipped with the latest operating system.

According to the news that was broken by n4bb.com, the Canadian-based mobile phone manufacturer will be releasing the new operating system update on Feb. 19, after being postponed last December 2014. The report also claimed that BlackBerry initially intended to release the operating system software update over the weekend, but the company faced several issues wherein the update can accidentally erase the entire contents of the device. That is why they are hoping to resolve all the issues before the Feb. 19 release date.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the latest version of BlackBerry OS will feature an updated edition of its virtual assistant that can now be compared to other popular mobile virtual assistants like Google Now, Apple Inc.'s Siri and Microsoft's Cortana. It will also come with the new notification profiles, task recurrence reminder, improved calendar reminder dialogs, as well as the option to hide marked pictures and videos.

The new BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 will also include the very significant battery saving mode and the choice to restrict the apps that will run when the device is in a minimized mode.

BlackBerry users who have a Q10 or a Q5 will allegedly like the new look of the BlackBerry OS 10.3.1, since it will be released with smaller home screen icons as well as minimized font sizes. This means that the individual home screens can display more app icons.

BlackBerry 10.3.1 was released by the Canadian mobile brand when they unveiled the BlackBerry Passport in September 2014. Techbuffalo reported that the new operating system is the company's most significant update since they launched the BB10.

If the rumors are true, then BB users can expect to get the new BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 in the coming days.
