BlackBerry has its own mobile platform that powers up the many devices in the BlackBerry lineup. One of the many features of the RIM OS is that it provides a higher-than-average level of security for data and information, which is why BlackBerry devices are a hit among niche markets, particularly for business people. In addition, most of the designs of a BlackBerry design carry a physical keyboard, which is also one of its signature features. 

However, demand for BlackBerrys dwindled as the devices faced stiffer competition in mainstream markets such as Android-powered smartphones and Apple iOS-run devices.

This doesn't spell the end of BlackBerry, though, as it seems that the company is adaptable to change and embraces innovation.

In earlier months, rumors of an Android-run BlackBerry have been making their rounds since the company unveiled their latest flagship device. Notorious tech industry leaker Evan Blass started the speculations when he posted some renders of a BlackBerry device, which were picked up by tech industry observer websites such as Android Central. 

Recently though, Blass again posted some fresh images of what is purported to be a BlackBerry device. Dubbed as the BlackBerry Venice, the new phone looks to be any other signature smartphone nowadays – a slick build with a combination of rounded and edged form factor. Being a BlackBerry, however, fans would most definitely look for the physical keyboard, and will be surprised at what BlackBerry had done. The Venice is a slider phone, and the physical keyboard slips out from the back panel. 

Aside from the images, Blass also stated that fans can expect the BlackBerry Venice to make its way to the market soon, with four major U.S. carriers offering the device by November. Although no specific dates were mentioned, rumors say that BlackBerry may announce the slider smartphone in the middle of the month, by Nov. 16.
