Following the tragic Las Vegas mass shooting, Warner Bros. has deemed it appropriate to cancel the "Blade Runner 2049" red carpet event for the movie's premiere.

The premiere itself will not be canceled, but it will take place without its stars on the red carpet. "In light of the tragic events of last night, Warner Bros. Pictures, Sony Pictures and Alcon Entertainment are canceling the red carpet for tomorrow's screening of "Blade Runner 2049. We join the rest of the country in sending heartfelt thoughts and prayers to all those affected by this tragedy," Warner Bros. said in a statement on Monday.

A 7 p.m. screening of "Blade Runner 2049" was still held on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the Dolby Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles. An after-party for invited guests also seemed to have still taken place despite the absence of the red carpet festivities.

In the wake of the Las Vegas shootout, another movie premiere, "Marshall," was also canceled by its producer, Open Road Films. That said, it still held a private screening at Las Angeles for filmmakers, the cast, and other invited guests.

The tragic Las Vegas incident bore a casualty of 59 deaths and more than 500 wounded civilians due to a lone gunman who opened fire on a crowd at a music festival in the Las Vegas strip last Sunday night. "Blade Runner 2049" actor Jared Leto and his rock band, 30 Seconds to Mars, have released a tweet stating their solidarity with the people of Las Vegas.

The upcoming sci-fi film was directed by Denis Villeneuve as a direct sequel to the original 1982 "Blade Runner" from Ridley Scott. It stars Harrison Ford, who will reprise his role in the previous movie, along with Ryan Gosling and the aforementioned Leto.

Despite the lack of a prestigious red carpet event, "Blade Runner 2049" will not be moving its worldwide release date.
