Game developer Inti Creates has rolled out the first major update for "Blaster Master Zero" this week, and it comes with two new modes and new playable characters.

With the Version 1.2 update, the game welcomes new modes, such as the Destroyer Mode, which is considered the most difficult "hard mode" that players can access after clearing the game. According to Gematsu, in this mode, the Energy Guard item will have zero effect, so if players want to keep their Gun Level up, they have to be very careful. Life Up items will have zero effect as well, and the Wave, which is known as the strongest weapon in the Normal Mode, will no longer work against some enemies. Also, this mode requires careful attacks because destroying an enemy will unleash bullets into the player's direction. Lastly, Jason, the game's main protagonist, and Sophia III will look slightly different in the Destroyer Mode.

According to Inti Creates, as reported on GameSpot, the Destroyer Mode is the developer's way of encouraging players to be careful with their every move and use all of their abilities to defeat the mode's powerful monsters.

Another mode added to the game is the EX Character Mode, which allows users to play the game as one of the new characters added, and will be added, into the game. Each of the characters have their own set of powers and weapons that are completely different from Jason's.

The new update also comes with new characters, and the first two that have been announced are Gunvolt from "Azure Striker Gunvolt" and Ekoro from "Mighty Gunvolt" and "Gal Gun." Gunvolt, who has electric powers, has already been launched and can be downloaded for free until May 17. After this time, downloading the character will cost $1.99. Angelic weapon equipped Ekoro, on the other hand, will be launched on June 1, and players will be able to download the character for free until June 14. The price will also change to $1.99 after the said date.

More characters will be available for download soon. For now, fans have to wait for announcements from the developer. The demo version of the game has also been released. According to Nintendo Wire, the demo allows interested players to gain access to two of the game's arenas.

The "Blaster Master Zero" update 1.2 is now available for the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 3DS.
