"Warcraft III" is home to the one game that made the entire multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) genre famous, "Defense of the Ancients" ("DotA"). Although of course, "DotA" was only a custom map during its beginnings, "Warcraft III" was an addicting game in its own right. Developer Blizzard seems to be bringing back the game to life with a "Warcraft III" invitational.

The invitational will reportedly have different kinds of modes to be featured in the competition, although this may be unsurprising for an event that plans to prove "Warcraft III"'s longevity. The events will include a four-versus-four, a free-for-all and a lot of other "friendly" competitions.

"We love and continue to support our Warcraft III community, and we're excited to see classic competitors like Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen, Park 'Lyn' Joon, and Kim 'ReMinD' Sung Sik try out all the new PTR changes for themselves— including balance adjustments to many heroes, widescreen support, and more — all playable now on the PTR," reads the announcement post.

For those who have not been updated with the game, the Public Test Realm (PTR) was only just released last year to commemorate the 15th year since the release of the original "Reign of Chaos." Since then, a lot of new patches have been rolled out to the game, which is a surprising factor to see during the invitational.

Before the news, rumors were around the possibility of a "Warcraft III" remaster with all the pros getting visas. However, that is not the case now that the fans know about the invitational. While a remaster would have been great, the invitational will definitely bring back some nostalgic feels.

There are a bunch of pros coming to the event. Those who want to watch the event, know that it will be hosted by Twitch channel Back2Warcraft and will be held on Feb. 27 and 28, 2018.
