Blood Moon 2015 time: lunar spectacle happening September 28

The Blood Moon is the latest astronomical spectacle stargazers are looking forward to. This rare phenomenon, which is set to take place on Sept. 28, is simply a total lunar eclipse, an instance when Earth casts its shadow on a full moon, giving it a golden red glow.

The moon will be unusually closer to the planet at around 2 a.m., slipping into a beautiful white tint before it becomes bright rusty red. Residents in Coventry and Warwickshire will get the front row seats at this event but they just have to make sure they are awake during the early hours on that day to witness it and stay awake until 4:30 a.m. when the show ends.

Not everyone is looking forward to seeing the Blood Moon, however. This is because there is a prevailing belief that it brings an apocalyptic omen. Christian ministers John Hagee and Mark Biltz trust that this cosmological marvel is a sign from God that the days of civilization are numbered.

Hagee and Biltz claim that the "tetrad," a string of four successive lunar eclipses that began in April 2014 with six full moons in between, is the manifestation of the world's end as written in Acts 2:20 and Revelation 6:12 of the Bible. There are speculations that Armageddon will happen between Sept. 23 and 28.

However, NASA debunks the rumors. According to Express, the U.S. space agency has shot down the speculations that come Sept. 23, Earth will be no more when "huge asteroids" hit it. NASA assures everyone that no space rocks the size that can destroy the whole globe are lurking and there won't be any for at least  the next 100 years.

"There is no scientific basis, not one shred of evidence, that an asteroid or any other celestial object will impact Earth on those dates," NASA stated as quoted by Mirror.

That said, stargazers can watch the Blood Moon phenomenon without having to worry that Earth will be reduced to dust.
