Donnie Wahlberg weighed in on the issue pertaining to the case that his character Danny Reagan will work on in the sixth season finale of "Blue Bloods," airing on Friday.

In the episode titled "Blowback," the NYPD and the Reagan family will be caught in the middle of a public outrage as a result of an alleged police brutality when a police officer shot a teenager and the retaliation of a civilian against the offending officer.

Wahlberg admitted in an interview with" CBS This Morning" that they occasionally get some warning when shooting outdoor scenes in the streets of New York City because of the growing public fury against cops due to real-life police brutality cases.

"We were getting warned for a while, 'You know, you're dressed as a cop. Watch out when you're shooting scenes out in the streets because there was a lot of anger and resentment,'" the actor explained. "I don't really worry when I'm out on the streets. I love shooting on the streets of New York."

He also mentioned that he is glad that the show could explore real-life issues since they could discuss it in different angles.

"What's great about our show is that we get to explore these issues from all sides... because each family member has their own take on these different things," Wahlberg said.

The actor also said that "Blue Bloods" tends to showcase the traditional interaction within families while showcasing police procedural drama.

Meanwhile, the synopsis for the season 6 finale reads:

"Frank, the Mayor, Erin and the DA's office contend with public outrage after a grand jury doesn't indict an NYPD officer for the controversial shooting of a teenager that was caught on video. Also, when an officer is shot in what seems like retaliation, Danny and Baez go on a manhunt for the suspect."

"Blue Bloods" season 6 finale airs on CBS on Friday, May 6.
