The two-part finale for "Blue Bloods" season 5 began with "New Rules." The gang war has escalated to new levels now that an alleged gang member shot one of the Reagans, Linda, along with the only witness to the shooting incident that killed Deputy Chief Donald Kent.

Detectives Danny Reagan and Maria Baez are out with their own investigation to hunt down gang member Mario Hunt, played by guest star Cliff "Method Man" Smith, who is a known member of a violent and ruthless mob.

A report from EnStarz states that Erin also comes in and reminds Danny that there are still people above his pay grade. She forces herself onto the investigation, and the promotional trailer shows her telling Danny that they need to obey every and any order she gives.

Danny needs to keep his emotions and personal struggle in check as he finds the shooter but ends up with no witnesses, complicating things with Erin. He needs to avoid letting his emotions cloud his judgment. In order to achieve any result, he has to think of creative means of finding other witnesses to the shooting.

"New Rules" spent most of its time setting up the emotional climax, and now, "The Art of War" will show the payoff. It is possible that Danny will lose patience as his hold over the shooter weakens due to Erin's interferrence, and this may lead to the highly anticipated drama-heavy and action-filled final episode.

According to the IBTimes, the episode will guest star the aforementioned Method Man and Dennis Haybert as well as Felix Solis, Jamie Lincoln Smith, Keenan Joliff, and Staci-Lyn Charles. Other guest cast members such as Abigail Hawk, Vanessa Ray, Robert Clohessy, and Marisa Ramirez will also be in the season finale.

"Blue Bloods" season 5 episode 22, "The Art of War," will air on May 1 on CBS.
