Both of these teams have yet to gain even one point from their opening two games in qualifying and that makes today's game all the more important for both. A third straight loss for one of the teams today will plunge their campaign into emergency mode, but both will see today's game as an opportunity to finally get three points.

The only other team, as well as Bolivia and Venezuela, yet to gain a point in the CONMEBOL qualifying is Peru, but both or at least one of Bolivia and Venezuela will finally get off the mark today.

Both of these teams looked reasonably strong during the recent Copa America tournament, and that makes their current predicament all the more surprising.

Bolivia went through to the quarter finals of the Copa America, and even though Venezuela came bottom of their group they were in an extremely difficult group and gave as good as they got for many of the exchanges.

But these are not two teams likely to ultimately qualify for the World Cup; Venezuela have never been to a World Cup Finals tournament, and Bolivia have not made the main tournament since way back in 1994. Given the way they've started their current campaigns that is unlikely to change any time soon, but three points for one of them could kick start their campaign and provide a platform to create some shocks on the way in the coming months.
