"Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" is confirmed to enter its next major story arc in the coming episodes, as the spin-off anime series shifts its focus to the much-awaited Chunin examinations. For those familiar with the first "Boruto" feature film, the upcoming Chunin exams in Konoha will be the center of a new threat. The spoilers suggest that the preparations for the Chunin exams will begin in episode 50, and the team instructors will get to decide if their students are qualified to participate in the event.

The latest set of episode titles and synposes of "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" is finally out, and it looks like the beginning of the Chunin exam storyline will happen in episode 50. The said episode, titled "Chunin Exam Recommendation Meeting," will see the Hidden Leaf Village's first step in handling this year's Chunin exams. Before anything else, the young ninjas who will get to enter the examination round must be proven to be skilled enough.

"Chunin Exams are held to see what promising genins from all villages can do. In the Hidden Leaf Village before the exams, the past members of Team Ebisu — Konohamaru, Udo, and Kazamatsuri Moegi — are discussing whether or not their students are worthy of participation," the episode 50 plot summary states.

From this alone, the fans can tell that the next main event in the series is just around the corner. For now, the genins must show their team leaders that they are qualified to participate in the Chunin exams. As for Team 7, Konohamaru will have to judge the previous performances of Boruto, Sarada and Mitsuki before signing them up.

The fans would already know by now that Team 7 will qualify to the Chunin exams. Although, the fans have yet to see the differences between the staging of the Chunin exam in the film version and in the upcoming story arc of the anime series.

The storyline will begin with Boruto resorting to cheating with the use of advanced ninja technology that allows him to use a number of jutsus against other genins. Ultimately, Boruto's misdeed will be exposed, but it comes with a price as an all-powerful villain from the Otsutsuki clan emerges amid the Chunin exam and puts everyone's life in danger.

"Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" episode 50 will air in Japan on March 21.
