The 28th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine, translated by Anime News Network, just revealed the first official  image of Naruto and Sasuke in the upcoming film "Boruto: Naruto the Movie." The reveal was featured this Monday, June 8.

The designs still evoke the classic look of the characters, with Naruto still donning orange and Sasuke featuring a signature blue and black outfit. The designs are only slightly updated to show the character's age, and Naruto also sports a hat worn by the Hokage.

Weekly Shonen Jump also revealed two background sheets that will be featured in the film: the first is a convenience store while the latter is a hamburger joint in Konoha Village.

The previous issue of Weekly Shonen Jump revealed how the new characters, namely Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki, look. Boruto is Naruto and Hinata's son, while Sarada is Sasuke and Sakura's daughter. Mitsuki is an entirely new character who isn't in the original manga series or anime but is being featured in the sequel manga mini-series "Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring."

According to Anime News Network, the film's official plot states that Boruto, son of the legendary hero Naruto, resents his father and secretly wants to surpass his power and legacy. In order to do this, he becomes an apprentice of Naruto's friend and greatest rival, Sasuke, and meets Sasuke's daughter Sarada.

The movie's story and character designs were all done by series creator Masashi Kishimoto. He is also credited as the chief production supervisor for the film. Hiroyuki Yamashita is directing the film based on a script collaborated between Kishimoto and Ukyo Kodachi.

"Boruto: Naruto the Movie" opens in Japanese theaters on Aug. 7 although tickets will become available on June 27. The first 100,000 ticket buyers will be given a limited edition paper fan with either Naruto and Boruto or Sasuke and Sarada, drawn by Kishimoto himself.
