The Boston Bruins are not doing so well in the 2015–16 season suffering losses in their first three regular season games and also losing left winger Brad Marchand in their second game due to a concussion.

According to ESPN, Marchand suffered the injury in the third period of their 4–2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens last Saturday, when he tried to make a play but Canadiens right winger Dale Weise's elbow hit his head.

Marchand went down and had a hard time standing, and walking towards the bench before being helped to the locker room.

"We're going about it with the League's protocol with concussions and his return will be dictated by how quickly he recovers ... so we have no timetable for him," Bruins head coach Claude Julien stated.

Marchand, who was the 71st pick by Boston in the 2006 National Hockey League (NHL) Draft, played in two games so far this season and has yet to score a point.

Last season, the 27-year-old left winger played in 77 regular season games, scoring 24 goals and 18 assists for 42 points.

The Bruins are trying to reach the playoffs this season after missing it last year for the first time since not making it in the 2006–07 season.

Boston aims to capture its first win of the season this Wednesday when it plays against the Colorado Avalanche who are searching for their second victory of the season.

The Bruins are struggling so far and in an interview with NESN, Julien acknowledged that their defense, which was a former strength of the team, is now their weakness.

"Right now, I think our biggest weakness is what used to be our strength, and we got to find that again. There's a lot of new faces in our lineup, and it doesn't happen overnight, but we got to keep plugging away here and working with these guys to get better. The sooner, the better," Julien stated.

Julien added that the Bruins should be stingy, especially since they are going on a two-game road trip which starts against Colorado.
