Boston Celtics NBA 2015 trade news, rumors: LaMarcus Aldridge over Kevin Love?

The Boston Celtics have made it know that they are pitching for LaMarcus Aldridge and from the looks of it, he will be a top priority.

And the case holds true even if the Celtics get a chance to talk to Kevin Love of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Love remains mum at the moment on his plans after the current season but regardless, it looks like the Celtics will opt to choose Aldridge over Love.

Aside from the fact that Love is currently out with a shoulder injury, the Celtics are looking at the numbers game and the performance of both forwards. Aldridge has of course put up the impressive numbers owing to the fact that he is one of the players looked upon by the Portland Trailblazers.

For Kevin Love, his numbers have diminished dramatically. Of course, such was only to be expected considering he is playing against two other NBA all-stars in Kyrie Irving and Lebron James. With Irving and James around, Love doesn't necessarily have to work overtime to help the Cavs win.

Hence, it seems that in the eyes of the Celtics that the diminished capacity could churn out a milder Kevin Love if they should pursue him. Love may not be used to the go-to-guy role and may find it hard to recall the form that made him one of the most sought after players during last year's free agency.

With those things in mind, it should not be surprising to hear that the Celtics would prioritize Aldridge over Love.

But before they decide on anything, the task at hand is to get into the mix of trying to lure Aldridge or Love to their fold.

Love is mum and could stay in Cleveland but Aldridge is expected to be a much sought-after player once free agency beings.

The Celtics will have to deal with established teams like the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Mavericks for Aldridge's services. One thing working against the Celtics could be the fact that Aldridge may be looking for an NBA title, something that could take some time over at Beantown as they continue to rebuild.
