Boston Celtics news 2015: Kevin McHale has a job waiting in Boston

Kevin McHale is out of a job but it doesn't seem that the former Houston Rockets head coach is in a rush to take on another head coaching gig.

Apparently, McHale had been through a lot and just like that, the Rockets forgot that this was the same guy who led them to the Western Conference Finals. McHale was apparently hinted as the cause for the team's bad start and for that he has been given the pink slip.

Many felt the decision was a wrong one but despite the outcry, the fact remains that the McHale is out as head coach and all eyes are now on his assistant, J.B. Bickerstaff. He now takes the hot seat on an interim capacity, although a good showing could promote him as full-time head coach.

As for McHale, his coaching record will surely gain the interest of teams. And one of that happens to be the same franchise where he played for practically all his National Basketball Association (NBA) tenure, the Boston Celtics.

Danny Ainge, a former teammate and current Celtics president, has touched base with McHale and stressed that he has a spot waiting in Beantown if he is interested, according to Boston Herald

Ainge is interested in getting McHale onboard, someone who could help toughen up the Celtics young frontline core made of Jared Sullinger, Kelly Olynyk, and Amir Johnson.

McHale appreciated the offer but it doesn't seem like he will be returning to the NBA scene any time soon. The Hall of Famer will apparently take some time off to rejuvenate himself and Ainge is hopeful that when the time comes, he would consider joining the Celtics.

To his credit, McHale owns a .556 winning percentage while coaching the Rockets and the Minnesota Timberwolves. That alone is something to marvel at, something other teams are probably looking at.
