Floyd Mayweather Jr. will no longer be boxing as he announced his retirement from the sport following a dominant unanimous decision win over Andre Berto at the MGM Grand last Saturday.

Mayweather again had a great defensive strategy being elusive and keeping his distance to make Berto miss while he was landing powerful blows to the head and body.

Once the bell rang, the unbeaten champion kneeled at the center of the ring and looked to the sky.

The judges scored it 120–108, 118–110, and 117–111 all in favor of the no. 1 pound-for-pound boxer who had his hand raised for the last time.

"You got to know when to hang it up, and it's time for me to hang it up. I'm not going to be doing this when I'm 40 years old," Mayweather said following the fight, according to ESPN.

The 38-year-old added, "There's nothing else for me to do in the sport of boxing. I made great investments, I'm financially stable, well off. I had a great career. My record speaks for itself."

Saturday's victory over Berto tied Mayweather's record with the great Rocky Marciano who also retired at 49–0.

When asked what it means to tie Marciano, Mayweather said now it is a part of history also adding that he hopes to find the next Floyd Mayweather to break the records he set.

Meanwhile, Berto now holds a 30–4 record and is 3–4 in his last seven bouts including Saturday's loss.

Mayweather praised Berto saying that he was a tough competitor but experience "played a major role" in the fight.

Berto sided with Mayweather saying that experience was a major factor also acknowledging the little and smart things the champion did to get him off rhythm.

The younger challenger added that Mayweather used his speed and was crafty during the fight.

"He's where he is for a reason. Floyd is definitely one of the best ever," Berto also said.

The fight against Berto was Mayweather's last in his six-fight contract with Showtime/CBS which he signed in 2013.

According to ESPN, the deal earned him over $420 million that included around $250 million from his fight with rival Manny Pacquiao which was dubbed as "The Fight of the Century."
