Boxing rumors 2015: Kell Brook vs. Amir Khan fight proposal likely to materialize

With Manny Pacquiao unsurprisingly picking Timothy Bradley Jr. as his last opponent in April, such has likely set the stage for that much talked about Kell Brook vs. Amir Khan setto in June.

Khan's promoter Eddie Hearn already made preliminary arrangements, although nothing was still set. Apparently, Hearn already had a foresight of things to come. Khan didn't exactly hold good odds at the time and such has now been technically justified.

With that said, Hearn, Khan and the camp of Brook will likely be busy negotiating for the fight which is likely to be one of the big fights for 2016. Brook has long wanted to face Khan but the latter was busy trying to get himself bigger and lucrative fights with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

And as everyone knows, he failed on both counts but has, apparently, accepted that and moved on.

Hearn has done the necessary pencil-pushing and has drawn up a proposal for the two to meet at the Wembley Stadium on June 4. From all accounts, this fight will be quite huge.

As far as Khan is concerned, it will be interesting if he would show some rust considering if that fight date does become official, it will be his first one for more than a year. His last fight was back in May against Chris Algieri which he won via unanimous decision.

The same goes for Brook who last fought Frankie Gavin in May. He won via total knockout (TKO) in the sixth round.

Brook may, however, find himself facing off against Kevin Bizier before that June 4 fight against. Bizier is the International Boxing Federation's (IBF) mandatory challenger which brings into play if Brook would have ample time to prepare for Khan by June.

The space between fights — February to June — seems like a close one but Brook and Hearn will likely come up with something to make that fight with Khan happen. Everyone knows the hype that fight brings as well as the money tied up to it.
