Brandon Rios reveal was scheduled to return to the ring on June 27 in an undercard match of the Timothy Bradley-Jessie Vargas setto but it looks like all those plans have been scratched.

Rios last saw action in January and won handily against Mike Alvarado in Colorado. Brandon Rios totes a 33-2 record, 24 by KO.

Despite the setback, it seems that boxing fans won't have to wait long to see Rios fight again. Apparently the June 27 setback could possibly setup the former boxing champ to an even bigger bout, one rumored to be against IBF welterweight boxing champion Kell Brooks.

Brooks had initially hoped to face off against Amir Khan but it seems that Khan may not be available. Khan is set to fight Chris Algieri on May 29, 2015 and a victory could possibly setup the British boxer in a match against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Hence, Brooks may have to settle facing Rios. However, he has to get past Frankie Gavin on May 30 where he is favored to come out the victory.

For Rios, the American boxer has won two fights in a row after suffering a defeat at the hands of Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao on November 11, 2013.

Rios has won over Diego Gabriel Chaves last August 2, 2014 (DQ) and against Mike Alvarado last January by TKO. However, the victories were far from impressive so his setto with Brooks could be something to help the latter up the ranks.

Brooks wrested the title from Shawn Porter last year and promoter Eddie Hearn could be preparing Brooks for bigger opportunities. However, it remains to be seen if that could come at the expense of Rios who likewise needs to come up with an impressive win after his last loss to Pacquiao.
