The Brooklyn Nets failed to open their preseason with a win as they fell short Monday against Turkish club Fenerbahçe Ulker at the Barclays center.

Leading the hosts was center Brook Lopez who scored 18 points, grabbed four rebounds, with one assist, one steal, and four blocks.

Another notable performance was from forward Thomas Robinson who had a double-double 12 points, 16 rebounds with one assist, two steals, and two blocks.

Along with Lopez and Robinson, bright spots on offense were guard Wayne Ellington, forward Thaddeus Young, and guard Jarret Jack who dropped 16,12, and 11 points respectively.

The Nets will have five more preseason games before opening their season on Oct. 28 taking on the Chicago Bulls.

Brooklyn did not have the most notable acquisition they had in the offseason, former number draft pick center Andrea Bargnani, due to a left hamstring injury, according to the New York Post.

Although according to the report, the 29-year-old center participated in the Nets' training camp workouts right after representing Italy and helping his nation to a sixth-place finish in EuroBasket 2015 .

Meanwhile, Fenerbahçe Ulker was led by the Phoenix Suns' first-round pick in 2014 Bogdan Bogdanović, who according to SB Nation, is expected to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 2016 or 2017.

The 23-year-old player tallied 17 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 30 minutes of action.

Bogdan had a crucial layup in the closing moments of the game that gave them enough cushion to seal the victory.

But leading the scoring for the visiting team was forward Jan Veselý who formerly played in the NBA for the Washington Wizards and the Denver Nuggets.

Vesley scored 18 points to lead Fenerbahçe Ulker, also tallying six rebounds and one steal.

Guard Kostas Sloukas also had a great showing, dropping 11 points and having an impressive 11 assists in the win over the Nets.
